The Great Wave off Kanawaga
The Great Wave at Kanagawa is a woodcut created during the Edo period of Japanese history. It is Hokusai's most famous work and the first of his series of Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, in which the use of Prussian blue revolutionized Japanese printmaking. The work ensured his immediate success in Japan and Europe, where Hokusai's art inspired the works of the Impressionists. The wave is probably the most reproduced image in the history of art.

Katsushika Hokusai
Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) was a Japanese artist, painter and woodcut artist of the Edo period. He is one of the greatest figures of the ukiyo-e genre. He is most famous for his woodblock prints, and is the author of the thirteen-volume sketchbook Hokusai manga and the woodblock print collection 36 Views of Mount Fuji. His art was an important source of inspiration for many European painters, especially Impressionists such as Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Hokusai and Hiroshige had a huge influence on the world's landscape painting.
