Alfons Maria Mucha (1860–1939) was a famous Czech painter, graphic artist and designer and a typical representative of the Art Nouveau movement. He created a large number of drawings, pastel or watercolour studies and designs for interiors, utilitarian objects and jewellery. His life's work is the cycle of large-scale canvases Slavic Epic, on which he worked for almost eighteen years.
